Believe it, there's a fairly large art scene in
Boise. In fact, this friday is Art in the Park in Julia Davis Park, an annual fundraiser for the
Boise Art Museum which is currently housing a modest but quality Geogia O'Keeffe exhibit.
Of course, that's later this week,
after we fly back to San Francisco, missing yet another event in our city of exhile.
While coming back from the O'Keeffe exhibit we stumbled through town and happened on
April Hoff's exhibit at a local gallery. It focusses on current topics with a personal touch, admittedly a familiar topic these days with the spreading of digital art technologies throughout our lives.
While the art wasn't mind-blowing, and a bit dark for my taste, it's always great to see amateur artists strike out and try and make a living at their craft, especially when they are very personable, easy to talk to and open about discussing their art and how it relates to their lives. This experience of seeing
through the art is often more enjoyable than viewing the art by itself.
Good luck April! Looking forward to your next project.
